Meet Kaitlynn, one of our stylish Luxe girls over at the Domain whose “hobo chic” aesthetic, as seen in her party picks for this season, adds an urban coolness to glitzy, sometimes over-the-top, holiday looks. We loved the idea of mixing textures and patterns, like pairing the iridescently sequined BB Dakota Vilette Dress
and glistening Kendra Scott Alexandra
jewels with an androgynous chic Luxe plaid trench, so naturally we had to get her perspective on the art of chic party dressing. Read the Q + A for some ace tips!
My friends say hobo chic, but it’s more of just a mess. I like to step out of my comfort zone and wear things that are eye catching and unique. I love layers, even in the Texas summer heat. Overall, my personal style is just me. I change up my wardrobe to reflect my current mood or recent inspiration. The more pieces, patterns, and textures the better.
What’s your approach to holiday accessorizing?
Primarily, function. No one wants to be uncomfortable or feel like their outfit is more work than the occasion itself. Lightweight earrings that still sparkle perfectly, a purse that can be a clutch or a crossbody for hands free convenience. A sweet heel works perfect for holiday events. The sweet heel gives you the extra leg, length, and femininity, but will not have you wishing you brought a pair flats after the night is started.
What have been the most sought-after trends at Luxe this Winter season?
I have noticed tons of fur. They barely stay on the racks for three days before they are completely sold out. Faux fur or real fur, whichever tickles your fancy, they are both a killer seller and add a vintage elegance to any outfit.
Dressing for an office party can be tricky, any tips?
Black denim are the perfect party staple. Not only will you be comfortable in them all night, you are still professional and sexy at the same time. A slim fitting dark or black denim with a fitted peplum or anything that sparkles and a pair of heels gives off the perfect office party vibe.
Tell us a little about the look you’ve chosen.
I’m not the most girly girl, but I love a fitted sequin dress. It’s the most festive of holiday attire and adds such a spirited flare. I paired it with this oversized plaid trench coat to give it my personal touch. It reminds me of my dad’s sports coats back in the day. It added just enough causality to the outfit as well as the off beat eye catcher. No one wants to be over dressed for an occasion. I like to be comfortable and give off an almost effortless attempt at styling. I look for color combos and coordinate them together to create something almost weird but yet stunning at the same time. Every outfit is a piece of work to express my personality and uniqueness. I would wear this outfit to a holiday outing because it’s functional, comfortable, stylish, and not what everyone else at the party would be wearing.
